James Hancock chose “a name you can trust” as his mission statement because the name “Hancock” is not only a world-class name, but also because it embodies the value proposition of due diligence, client loyalty, and care that he delivers and has become his trademark. Ultimately, it is this professionalism and higher standard of care that is what attracts people to James and what has resulted in his having built a large referral business.

His personal touch, his local knowledge as an area specialist, local connections, reputation, knowledge, and years of experience provide his clients with an unmatched level of comfort and security. Repeating a successful outcome is the mark of a winner and James says that has to do with his listening skills and negotiation skills as well as his follow up and resolve to walk his clients through a transaction from start to finish.

“I like to be present, starting from the showings and negotiations to the inspections and to the end closing,” he notes.

For James, it’s more than just about doing business as usual; he shows his clients that he cares. During the day if he happens to be in their neighborhood, he will pop in and say “hello!” He takes the time tosend personal handwritten notes to those with whom he is working and past clients. He believes, “If you give great service, it will boomerang and come back to you tenfold!”

Those words have never ringed truer as in the case of James Hancock. His business savvy and outstanding sales leadership have earned him recognition to rank among Coldwell Banker’s “Top 100 in Southern California” and in the company’s President’s Elite, which includes the top two percent of agents nationwide. Halfway through the current year, his sales exceed $29 million and he is on track for a record year!

Never one to shy away from working with anyone or taking on a challenging project, he lists and sells residential and income property on the Westside of Los Angeles from a condo for $200,000 to a $20 million estate.

As a youth graduating from high school in Incline Village, Lake Tahoe, Nevada, he aspired to follow a career path to Hollywood and enrolled at Pepperdine University in Malibu with a double major in business and theatre. Ironically, upon graduation he was offered a position in relocation services with a premier Los Angeles broker, the Jon Douglas Company. This did not surprise his family as both his brother was a licensed real estate broker and his father was the owner/broker of a boutique real estate company in Lake Tahoe.

“My father taught me how to live life with regard to the way I conduct myself in business and also the way I live at home and entertain,” says James. Soon he became associated with the company’s Executive Director for Estate Properties as his personal sales assistant and eventually ventured out on his own. James can still be found at the same Beverly Hills office he joined over 25 years ago, which is now part of Coldwell Banker. Brand loyalty, like client loyalty, is something he both preaches and practices.

It may be surprising to know that James also has a life besides his real estate practice that includes his passion for gardening, his joy of snow skiing and tennis, as well as the adventure of travel. His travels have included zip lining in Costa Rica; safari in South Africa and Botswana; snow skiing in Canada; sailing the Virgin Islands and French West Indies; touring through Turkey; Brazil trip up the Amazon River; traveling to Thailand and Hong Kong; visiting relatives in San Salvador Central America; enjoying the sites of Europe, and the sun in Mexico.

Today he enjoys his business just as much as the day he started, and feels lucky to feel a sense of accomplishment and pride in the career path he chose. “I am doing what I have been called to do!”
